La leggenda racconta che lo yoga ebbe origine su un’isola situata nell’Oceano Indiano, il Dio Shivastava insegnando alla sua sposa laDea Parvati le magiche posizioni dello yogada lui stesso create e riservate agli Dei.
Un pesciolino,ascoltando la voce, spinto dalla curiosità si fermo’ ad ascoltare e appresegliinsegnamenti, dopo aver appreso l’arte si tramuto’ in essere umano.
Il pesciolino secondo la leggenda fu il primoYogi.
Matsyendra che in sanscrito significa ”pesce fatto uomo“.
Esistono diverse versioni sullametamorfosi di Matsyendra, una racconta che il bambino gettato nell’oceano dalla madre perchè nato sotto cattivi presagi,venne ingoiato da un pesce gigante e dentro la sua pancia ascolto’ casualmente gli insegnamenti del Dio Shiva alla moglie Parvati e dopo 12 anni uscì dalla pancia del pesce come un maestro saggio e istruito.
Secondo alcune vociMatsyendra sembra sia realmente esistito , nato nelBengala ( X secolo d.c.)venerato dai buddisti in Nepal.
Lo yoga nacque in India circa 5000 anni fa.
L’ obiettivo principale di questa disciplina consiste nel ricreare un’armonia tra corpo, anima e mente.
Essere in buona salute, raggiungere un equilibrio psicofisico rappresenta un obiettivo per molti di noi,per raggiungere tale obiettivo dobbiamo imparare a conoscere il nostro corpo e i meccanismi che si intrecciano al fine di creare un’armonia.
Oggi lo Yoga viene proposto e praticato nelle palestre, nei centri benessere, a casa,in centri specializzati ecc..per gli innumerevoli benefici che si possono raggiungere attraverso questa disciplina; benefici come controllo dell’ansia, dello stress, cura per l’insonnia, rallentamento dell’invecchiamento, giovamento alla schiena ,alla respirazione , un intreccio di benefici fisici e psicologici che decretano il successo in occidente di una disciplina orientale.
Lo Yoga e la religione cattolica
Lo Yoga è un complesso di tecniche ascetiche indiane, comuni a varie forme
di induismo, sia al buddismo, secondo la definizione del dizionario.
La parola Yoga significa ” giogo”attacco per gli animali da tiro.
Questo giogo dovrebbe liberare dalla sofferenza e permettereun’unione con Dio, lo Yoga grazie ad uno stato di profondo raccoglimento risveglia la concezione spirituale.
L’argomento è spigoloso poichè lo Yoga non è una religionee il problema dovrebbe non sussistere, tuttavia è stato spesso affrontato da praticanti cattolici e anchepapaRaztingersi è espresso in merito.
Papa Raztinger invita a praticare loYoga come una semplice ginnastica, essere attenti al contesto ideologico affinchè non diventi un elementodistruttivo della fede cristiana.
Alcune fonti ritengonolo Yoga una pratica da evitare, poiché racchiude unsatanismoimplicito in forza degli esercizi mentali apparentemente innocui,ma che in realtà sono finalizzati alla soppressione degli stati di coscienza normali per il raggiungimento di altri stati di coscienza.
Troviamo posizioni opposte nella sua interpretazione,alcune estreme che considerano loYoga una forma di contatto con le forze occulte,sia attraverso le posizioni,sguardo estasiato verso l’alto , che attraverso le parole, apparentemente innocue ma in realtà delle vere invocazioni.
Secondo queste concezioni i soggetti che praticano seriamente Yoga, conoscendo il significato profondo, tendono adallontanarsi dalla fede cristianaabbracciando le dottrine induiste.
I monaci Camaldolesi sono di parere opposto ,praticano e insegnano Yoga da decenni e il priore dichiara :se l’esercizio yogico permette un processo di unificazione in se stessi, con il divino, con il fratello/sorella, perchè impedirlo?
Una buona proposta Yoga non dovrebbe interferire con la fede dei praticanti.
Lo Yoga viene molto spesso praticato per ricevere benefici fisici e migliorare la qualità della vita, senza cambiare il proprio orientamento religioso.
