Che cos’è la febbre?
La febbre nel bambino è una problematica di urgenza-emergenza. Si considera febbre una temperatura corporea superiore a 37,5°C, si differenzia dall’ ipertermia che è l’aumento della temperatura dovuto a cause ambientali e non interne (Es. colpo di calore, bimba lasciata in macchina ecc..) Come misurare la febbre nei bambini?

- Idratarlo, dandogli da bere liquidi (camomilla o the, soluzioni reidatranti a volontà (a piccoli sorsi) o semplicemente acqua
- Non forzarlo a mangiare ma offrire piccoli pasti qualora non avesse appetito
- Non usare coperte pesanti a letto, tenere il bimbo un poco scoperto. Coprirlo qualora avesse brividi e freddo.

Secondo le Linee Guida i farmaci usati per abbassare la febbre nei bambini sono il paracetamolo e l’ibuprofene: differenti studi hanno dimostrato che entrambi sono efficaci nel ridurre la temperatura febbrile nel bambino e sono ugualmente sicuri.
Gli antibiotici, non vanno mai dati di propria iniziativa, ma solo dietro prescrizione del pediatra, quando si sospetta un’infezione batterica.
Quando allarmarsi?
- se il bambino ha meno di tre mesi;
- se, piange continuamente ed è difficilmente consolabile;
- se è sonnolento, si fa fatica a svegliarlo e risponde poco agli stimoli;
- se la febbre supera 40° C ;
- aumento della frequenza respiratoria (più di 50 respiri al minuto (tra i 3 e i 12 mesi di vita), o più di 40 respiri al minuto (dopo i 13 mesi di vita);
- Se fa fatica a muovere la testa ed il collo;
